Support Spreads for Peace Conference

In recent days, the Chinese government has been engaging in frantic diplomacy around the conflict in Gaza, a highly volatile situation which threatens to escalate into a catastrophic conflict between superpowers. China requests a ceasefire and proposes an international peace conference to resolve the conflict, and proposes that the goal of this peace conference be implementation of the two-state solution called for in UN Resolutions. The Center for Political Innovation endorses China’s proposal and strongly urges all those concerned about the looming threat of World War III to do the same. While some, including many CPI members, may prefer a one-state solution for long-term viability, it is crucial to support China’s proposal as the most viable option to peacefully resolve this situation and avert a terrible crisis. The dire risk of a major-power war demands it. For the sake of the people of Palestine, Israel, and the rest of the world, this conflict must be deescalated immediately.

Globally and within the US, support for China’s proposal is rising among those who realize what is at stake. While the US media apparatus and President Biden remain in full-throated support of Israel and further military escalation, the public is far more lukewarm than on previous conflicts like Ukraine. Public figures are following suit. US Presidential Candidate Marianne Williamson, not usually a strong proponent of China or anti-imperialism, has just come out in favor of China’s proposal. While CPI is not a political party and we do not endorse any candidates, we salute Marianne Williamson’s wise and courageous stand on this important issue. We encourage other candidates to follow suit, especially any who consider themselves “Peace Candidates”. At this moment, China’s peace proposal represents the best path forward for Palestine, Israel, and humanity, and the Center for Political Innovation calls upon all people of good will to support it.
