The Center for Political Innovation (CPI) will host a special public forum in New York City on Wednesday, December 16th, 2026, doors open at 6:30pm, celebrating the release of Caleb Maupin’s new book, What is Tricontinentalism? Examining a Key Turning Point in the Cold War.

Written to mark the 60th anniversary of the historic 1966 Tricontinental Conference in Havana, Cuba, the new book examines the event as a pivotal moment in the history of the global anti-imperialist movement. The historic conference brought together activists from Asia, Africa, and Latin America, in the context of the Cold War and rapidly shifting global climate. Maupin’s book explores the political forces that shaped this historic gathering, the ideological debates surrounding it, and its lasting impact on global politics, giving special attention to US participants and how the US anti-war and Black Liberation movements were impacted. The book will be released and available for purchase online within the next few weeks.
The December 16th forum will feature multiple speakers and performers celebrating the book’s release and exploring the relevance of Tricontinentalism to the political confusion of our times and the need for innovation.
CPI founder Caleb Maupin will discuss his new book and participate in a question-and-answer session with attendees. The forum will also highlight CPI’s ongoing efforts to build a movement for peace, economic development, and a better future for working families across the United States.
The first 30 attendees will receive a free copy of Maupin’s new book!
